Cao Fei

Cao Fei was born in 1978 in Guangzhou, China. In 2001, she graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2006, she has lived and worked in Beijing. In her films, photographs, and immersive multimedia installations, Cao Fei addresses social upheavals and urban transformations in contemporary China.
Since the 2000s, she has increasingly explored the interplay between real and virtual worlds, as well as the digital permeation of the present.
Cao Fei is regarded as one of the most important voices in contemporary Chinese art.
