Lu Yang was born in Shanghai in 1984 and studied at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou. The artist identifies as gender-neutral and rejects gendered language. His/her work also breaks established categories of thought and identity patterns such as ‘male’ and ‘female’ or ‘real’ and ‘artificial’. Lu Yang’s multimedia practice brings together technology, religion, science, and pop culture at the intersection of the analog and the digital. The artist’s work spans 3D animation, video games, and virtual reality installations, as well as holograms and graphic art.
Lu Yang is based in Shanghai.
