Gute Stube

The failure of a great challenge is the theme of the video Gute Stube by John Bock. For this the artist assumed the role of a musician who tries to compose a new piece on a homemade instrument made of kitchen utensils. The setting of his action, reminiscent of the Flexus concerts from the 1960s, is a middle-class living room with wool carpet. The humor arises from the discrepancy between the lofty artistic challenge he has given himself and the ordinary objects at his disposal to achieve this. Failure is not presented here as a personal defeat, but rather as part of the artistic creative process.
