Pepperminta (2009) was Pipilotti Rist’s first feature film, whose protagonist is an eponymous young woman with fiery red hair. With her passion for experimentation and a sensual, playful sensuality, Pepperminta is determined to change the world; no wonder that she is quick to turn bourgeois society against her. Yet, the unconventional Pepperminta—who probably is the artist's alter ego—does not lose heart. With the confidence of Pippi Longstocking, she soon gathers a small, colorful army of eccentrics to accompany her on her mission. Pipilotti Rist sets the pace with quick edits and fast motion, sending viewers on a psychedelic trip that ends in the collective liberation from fears, the healing of wounds and the satisfaction of pleasure.
